Natural DIY Tie Dye

We received some hand-me-downs which we LOVE for our baby. The issue is they’re those stark white Gerber onesies and they’re never white for long. These came to us pre-stained. Solution: dye them with ingredients we already have at home!

What we used:

Rubber bands

2 big pots

2 big jars

2c white vinegar

2tbsp tumeric

16c water
Step 1: Prep your fabric. Rubber band them and boil 8c water + 2c vinegar. Reduce to a simmer and simmer your onesies for 1 hour.

Step 2: Your dye! These should be happening at the same time. Boil 8c water + 2tbsp tumeric in a seperate pot. Reduce to a simmer and simmer 1 hour.

Step 3: Let’s dye ’em! Rinse your prepped onesies under cold water and ring them out. Add 2 to each jar and divide tumeric dye evenly amongst them. I put the lids on and shook them, then let them sit for 20 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse and dry! Rinse your onesies under cold water until the water runs clean. Remove rubber bands. Hang outside to dry!
